[GO4GLOW COSRX Spotlight]: My 3 ride or die anti-acne products for problematic skin

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Pimples. Ugh, the bane of everyone’s existence! Whether you’re battling with puberty, occasional hormonal acne, a bad reaction to a skincare or makeup product, or just trying to keep those breakouts at bay — pimples have long been a source of worry and stress to many of us.

I am definitely NO EXCEPTION. I have really sensitive skin, so heat, dust, products that don’t agree with me, and occasional hormones can really wreck damage on my skin.

Today I’m gonna share with you guys my favourite 3 ride or die products for acne-prone skin. Before I start, I really can’t stress enough that prevention is always preferable to cure. This is the number 1 golden rule of my skincare philosophy, so I’m always looking for products that strengthen my skin barrier, prevent irritation, and protect it against potential problems.

Another note before we begin: It just so happens that my top 3 anti-acne products are from COSRX, a brand well-known for targeting anti-prone skin. This post was not sponsored by COSRX or any affiliated brands.

Ride or Die #1: COSRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol

GO4GLOW Natural BHA skin returning a sol review anti acne

What it is: A gentle, anti-acne toner that contains BHA, tea tree oil and propolis to soothe the skin, dry up recurring pimples, and prevent future trouble.

How to use: This is marketed as a toner, but I find that I still need a more moisturising toner after to help hydrate my skin more. If you have oily skin, you can probably skip toner after this.

For people with drier skin, I recommend using this as a spot treatment as opposed to an all-over toner, as the alcohol in the product might dry out your skin.

I use this right after cleansing and before my pH-sensitive actives. For morning, before Vitamin C serum and toner, and at night, before my P50 and hydrating toner. Do note that this might very slightly reduce the effectiveness of your acids, so it’s also a good way for beginners to introduce acids and actives into your regime.

Performance: I got this “pre-toner” on a whim, after reading a rave review by 50 Shades of Snail. To be honest, I didn’t think I needed this product at all, because my skin is usually quite stable and clear.

HOWEVER, when I was doing some experimenting with different BB cushions (for an upcoming review — stay tuned for that, because it cost me a lot of pain), I had a terrible reaction to the Laniege BB Cushion (and that’s officially the last time I buy a beauty product just because it comes with crystals on the case).

My skin was just clogged, filled with bumps everywhere, angry, red… you name it. I though it was definitely time to break out this product. And boy am I lucky I did.

As you can see from the picture, it really calmed my skin in just 3 days. My pores stopped being so clogged, redness went away, and my skin was just stronger and happier.

This product comes out very liquid-y, and has a strong tea tree smell. Many people aren’t fans of the smell, but being someone who has used tea tree for years, I find it mild. It dries very quickly, and surprisingly didn’t feel as drying as I thought it would be.

I’m really thrilled with this product, and I have been using it morning and night to keep my skin stable and calm.

Glow rating: 4.5/5. I will repurchase this when it’s out, because I don’t think there’s anything else out there like this product at the moment, and I find it effective and easy to use!

Where to buy: Shopee has this in abundance at a very affordable range of $15 – $20.

Ride or Die #2: COSRX Centella Blemish Ampule

OK I don’t know about you guys, but my skin is REALLY sensitive to heat. And every time I go for a yoga class (which is fairly often), my skin will always break out in hives, pimples, tiny bumps, etc.

Which I why I really appreciate this calming serum by COSRX.

What it is: The COSRX Centella Blemish Ampule is a serum with a high concentration of Centella (80% of centella asiatica leaf water, to be exact) to control sebum production and strengthen your skin’s protective barrier.

I’ve been LOVING products containing Centella, as it is a highly effective ingredient used in the treatment of acne and eczema. It’s very soothing, has anti-aging properties, and encourages your body’s production of collagen.

How to use: On very sensitive skin days, I use this as my only serum after toner and before my last skincare step. On normal skin days, I use this as my first serum, followed by my beloved Shark Sauce, and moisturiser.

The CORSRX Centella Blemish Ampule is a slightly viscous serum in a soothing green colour.

Performance: What I love most about this serum is how incredibly soothing and surprisingly hydrating it is. It has really helped in fading PIH, reducing inflammation, and as an added and unexpected bonus, has given me very soft and hydrated skin.

I didn’t expect a formula for sensitive skin to contain castor oil, but it’s formulated well. It calms clogged pores and redness. I also think it has gone a long way in helping my skin regain and maintain its barrier after my recent acne scare.

Glow rating: 4/5

Where to buy: Again, Shopee is where it’s at for COSRX products. You can get this for $20 – $30.

Ride or Die #3: COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch

The COSRX pimple patches come in 3 sizes, with 24 patches in each pack. I tend to use up the small ones, leaving only the big ones, but I still use these up like crazy.

What it is: A hydrophilic pimple patch made out of the same materials as post-surgery bandages to protect your blemishes from dirt and other contaminants, absorb extra oil and pus, and prevent secondary infection.

Performance: Now I know pimple patches are everywhere now, but this is *hands down* the best I’ve ever used. These little babies are so comfortable to wear, absorb pus and oil like nobody’s business, and they never fall off. I mean seriously, I’ve washed my face with these on before, and they didn’t even budge.

Before you start thinking that this will magically cure every single breakout you’ve ever had, just remember that pimple patches are most useful for popped pimples and popped whiteheads.

The pimple patch’s job is to get in there and suck up all the excess pus, drying up the spot, and preventing more infection (because occasionally a popped pimple can affect a surrounding pore, resulting in yet another annoying pimple). Pimple patches are generally ineffective against cystic acne — the kind that doesn’t have a head and is hard, red, and deep under your skin.

However, I find in some cases, this pimple patch has calmed (but not erased) the occasional cystic pimple that I tend to get on my chin.

That all being said, this is something that everyone needs. You never know when you might need to suck the life out of a pimple, and this is something you should always keep handy!

I can’t even tell you how many packs of these I’ve been through. They’re dead useful.

Glow rating: 5/5. Can’t live without these. If these every get discontinued, I will have a legit meltdown.

Where to buy: If you haven’t realised by now, Shopee is where it’s at! Watch out for flash sales, where you can get a bundle of 10 packs for ~$30.

After following my anti-acne regime very carefully (and a ton of soothing face masks later), I’m glad to report that my face is back in it’s usual condition.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions, hit me up in the questions box below.

Until next time, glow get rid of your acne! Love,
Jess
